Korean giant Samsung has responded to claims by Apple CEO Steve Jobs that the iPhone 4G mobile phone has a “retina display” that is superior to the Super AMOLED technology base. Jobs claimed that the IPS LCD technology used in four new iPhone offers superior color reproduction and higher resolutions.

This was immediately responded by Samsung through their spokesperson through the Korean Herald, saying that while Apple’s “retinal display” more superior in terms of resolution, the overall OLED is still the best technology, the SUPER AMOLED is still being used in Samsung and Samsung Galaxy Wave S in the future.

“Difference in visibility only until 3 to 5 percent, but to increase the resolution that increases the level of battery power consumption by 30 percent, structurally IPS LCD technology can not catch up with AM-OLED display technology.” As said by a spokesman for Samsung. Come in terms of power saving backlight option, the display backlight discrete retinal Apple needs to light the screen, where the OLED is emitting a means to create their own lighting. This means that the wider the contrast ratio as well, easily able to present the ratio of 1,000,000:1 OLED (although we do not know the specs on the Samsung Super AMOLED panel), while “dwarf” iPhone 4 offered only a 800:1 contrast ratio.
